Background Information¶
Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Telelkebir (antigenic formula 13,23:d:e,n,z15) is a serovar of the O:13 (G) serogroup. Limited information is currently available for this serovar.
Genetic Characteristics¶
Genetic information on serovar Telelkebir are limited. A study reported the presence of aminoglycoside resistance gene aac(6')-Iaa_1 in serovar Telelkebir, frequent carriage of fosfomycin resistance gene fosA7, as well as the sporadic presence of other antimicrobial resistance genes. Serovar Telelkebir appears to carry the cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) gene.
Animal Reservoir¶
Serovar Telelkebir has primarily been isolated from exotic pets like terrapins or chameleons.
Geographical Distribution¶
Serovar Telelkebir seems to be globally distributed, but has been primarily found in the UK, Germany, and the U.S.
